Ody Boy

This is just another post on this lil boyish dog named Ody.

It all started with me wanting a dog to keep me accompanied. Why? I have totally no idea. Then, Shaun brought me around to look for dogs and I always have a maltese or poodle in mind. A small little lap dog will be good. We searched high and low for the kind of dogs that we would want. Went on the internet, went to pet farms and almost all the pet shops around the area and found this pet shop with the words, "Puppies for SALE" somewhere at the shop front and we walked in to take a look.

The auntie showed us the puppies that she had and took them out for us to play with them. Then, this littlest puppy caught my attention. He was really hyper and ran to us for hugs, that totally win my heart over. After much discussion, we finally bought him. Shaun owned him for the first few days and had a very hard time sleeping as Ody is kept in the playpen alone, whining very loudly trying very hard to get the littlest attention he could. Thereafter, I brought him back home where he truly belongs to. The first headache I had was house-breaking him. He is really very hard to house break. Till today, he is still peeing everywhere around the house because his peeing area is dirty. faints.

Next major thing that happened was he poo with blood. It all started with non-stop diarrhea. Brought him to 3 different vets till his condition finally stablised. I changed his food from kibbles to barf secretly as Shaun will have loads to say if I were to tell him. And surprisingly, Ody got very much better after the change. The only bad was that I have to spend lesser and very much lesser on myself just to make sure he has the best. sighs.

After all the health saga, should start talking about his behaviour at home. He is really a tyrant at home even till now. Sent him to Waggie for training and he dread it. In turn, he failed his assessment and got a certificate of participation. laughs. Though he failed, I could see the drastic change of better behaviour at home, that is excluding the excessive barking. Then, I enrolled him for training with APAWS thinking that I should train him to be a therapy dog. The trainer told me that Ody can take up the competition level as there is not much of a difference and for the price that I am paying, its more worth it and so, I signed him in for competition class. In addition, Ody has this aggression problem that I can't seem to correct him, even till now though he is so so so much better now. I put in the effort to bring him for training every Saturday, missing out on loads of Saturday morning gatherings too. Finally, I took up the courage to sign him up for the SKC Obedience Trial after much thoughts. Jazz, the trainer, told me that Ody is ready and the only concern was which placing he will get. After so much drilling, he came in 4th placing. phew~ I have to thank Jazz for all the time, patience and guidance she had given.

He is turning 3 in May. Time flies. It seems as thou I just bought him from the pet shop not long ago. He brought us loads of joy and sorrows. He is my bestest friend who is always there for me despite me nagging and scolding him. I love him just as much as I love my family.

I'm so happy with Ody's performance today!! =D
I wasn't expecting anything from him today judging from all the hiccups he used to give me on very important days.
Nevertheless, I didn't give up on him and continued training even till the very last minute.

1st, he refused to calm himself down before entering the ring.
2nd, he forgotten his auto-sit at the start of the trial.
3rd, he didn't do his recall perfectly.

I do have my mistakes too. =p
Me, being in the ring for the 1st time, was too nervous when he made mistakes.
I totally lost my mind when there was faults. sigh.
Will work harder on that.. =)

My New Toy!

Finally bought myself a camera.
This time, I will try not to lose my camera again.
Went to Sitex to try out the Canon G11 but decided on Panasonic Lumix LX3. =P
Comparing the lens, size and weight, LX is on the upper hand.
One thing that I like about G11 is the extended screen.

Brought Ody to AMK Hub after his training for my camera. =)
He was totally a chick magnet.
The showgirls were so amazed by his good behaviour when I put him on the chair, he did not jump off the chair but sat there patiently waiting for me.
Those girls do not know that Ody is undergoing a series of tough training to attain such 'good' behaviour.
Now, I gotta work on Zaedy!
He's totally hopeless!! =X

Was so excited that I dig Prissy and YY up from bed after the batteries are fully charged.
We walked the dogs to Yishun Park instead of the intended, Bottle Tree Park, due to the rain.
Enjoyed ourselves very much! :)
Prissy and YY played like they were still a lil kid.. haha.

Calories Watch

Calories - Bah Kut Teh, Buffet @ Inter-Continental, Astons, Crabs.
This is a hell load of calories for 4 evenings straight in a row.
Gotta think of how to lose them. (it's going to be exercise and more exercise)

Had a mini birthday celebration for Angela

Went to a park to get some photo shoots with Ade and Vic and of course the dogs. :)
Just can't wait to see the photos.

Bear, Vic and I are going on a trip to Mt Ophir this weekend.
The thought of walking up to the summit to catch the sunrise is making me so enthusiastic.
I can't wait for weekend to come!!!

Worn Out

This weekend was terrible.
Feeling so lethargic forever but just can't get enough sleep.
Went mosquito feeding at Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve but managed to catch a glimpse of the setting sun. :)
Next, was at SKC for a short while and had to leave due to work. darn
When I got home, issue was resolved. FUCK!!
Ended up at USDB buying a mini cake for Ody to celebrate his barkday!
Mahjong till late and I'm like a walking zombie now~
I'M SERIOUSLY IN NEED OF SLEEP!!

Updates

Haven't touched this blog for a long time I supposed.
1st news to road users, watch out for me on the road!!
I've passed my Traffic Police Driving Test with 18 demerit points.
Drove Bear's bluey to AMK Hub at tortoise speed. LAUGHS!
Most importantly, Bear survived the ride!

2ndly, I've went to Korea and is back BROKE!!
Bought darn load of stuff for Prissy. (shoes, pens, clothes and yada yada)
Enjoyed the temperature and FOOD there!!
Will definitely go there again if I can. :)

3rdly, Ody is turning 2!
Time flies really fast when we are unaware of it.
He's so much more well behaved compared to before but he's far to ALPHA!!
He is no longer submissive and doesn't like to be pawed either.
This has to be corrected else he'll be getting into dog fights..
SIGH!!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

In less than 24 hours I'll be in a foreign land.
A land whereby citizens don't usually speak English.
A land whereby loads of shopping can be done. :)
And people with LOADS of common sense will know that Bear's free for the week!!
He's available for anything and everything.
Ody will be with his Godpawrents, Ade and Vic, having the company of Cobi.
No more 'annoying' lil cutie, Zaedy boy.
No more choking on his golden fur that sheds like crazy. :P
As for mummy, she's all good with her other 3 precious daughter. :)

Blood Donation Drive

Once again, I went for a blood donation.
Since its so near office, might as well rite?
This time the number of staff was much lesser compared to before and therefore, waiting time is so much longer.
As usual, I felt damn good after donating but till now the part that they drew blood from is bruised.
Never had this happened, really puzzled.

Brought Ody to Marina Barrage on Sun and then to UPet for a swim.
I know Ody hates swimming but Zaedy simply loves it.
They looked totally adorable when swimming!!! <3
Will bring them there again and I'll swim tgt with them.. Wee!!
It's time to bring them to the BEACH!!

Ody

Ody wasn't feeling well the whole week. Sent him to the vet and he's feeling so much better now. Seriously, what I can't stand is that people are asking,"Why is there nothing wrong with Zaedy?" In addition, they commented,"This is so STUPID!!" I tried to explain but they just don't get it. FORGEt IT!! I deem you people as IGNORANT. TOTALLY PISSED!!

Anyway, Ody has very sensitive digestive system. He'll poo soft stools whenever he eats food that he's not supposed to. And I ever witnessed that he LS within 3 mins after eating kibbles. No point ranting here when it had past. As long as Ody is fine.

Weekends III

BBQ with the SGNorth peeps ->Mahjong till 4->Interrupted sleep at 730 by the boys->Grooming session for the poochies->Tour around Changi->Found a new fishing site

Thanks Ade and Vic for the ride. Really enjoyed the road trip. My first time seeing so many hermit crabs and they are really HUGE!! Definitely not those, ha ha crabs, you see selling in shopping centres.

Lastly, to Bear, Happy 18 Monthsary!!
Didn't manage to make a delicious cheesecake but I'll try to make it better the next time round ya?
I'm actually proud of my first attempt because of the look but not the taste. heez

16th Monthsary

We have been tgt for 16 mths.
16 mths of ups and downs till today.
Since the day we 1st met as frens, had dinner till today, its 510 days.
Though it might seems really long, to me, it seems only yesterday.

I brought Bear to Tampopo for dinner last evening.
As usual, I had complementary food from them. :)
Don't ask me why because I will not tell.
We enjoyed our food to bits.
Not to mention, it's by far the best Jap restaurant I've been to.

Looking back at all the months tgt, I remembered something really meaningful to us..
ODY.. One of my most memorable mthsary present.
He was given to me on 9th Oct 07, my 2nd mthsary gift.
Then, he was only abt 5 mths old.
The littlest puppy I've ever fall for.
Now, this lil boy has grown up to be a rascal that's loved by not only me and Bear but many others with his tiny pair of 'shimmering' eyes.

Thanks Bear for all the memories and I'm loving you more than anything..

Hearts Holis

Went to MacRitchie with Bear and Ody despite the rain.
We totally enjoyed ourselves and esp Ody.
This fearless rascal wasn't afraid of those Monkeys.
He even wanted to give them a chase!! (faints)
Totally unimaginable if they were to end up in a fight. (there were so many of them)

Weekend

my weekend was great!!
with Bear planning everything.
really appreciate it.

but Ody's was bad..
all he got was a BBQ on friday nite and the rest of the days was left at home. :(
and he showed me his displease by peeing on the floor in the morning..
argh!!
can't really blame him thou..
anyway, he wouldn't be locked at home this weekend as there is a gathering coming up.
:)

A Walk in the Garden

Brought Ody to the Bontanic Garden with the help of Ade and spouse. :)
Met up with the usual peeps there and started our journey to the waterfall for a round of photo taking, then to an open field for a run..
Ody enjoyed himself so much that he is seriously running everywhere.

Sunday

Went for my 3rd driving lesson at SSDC.
I must say that it's freaking STRESSFUL being behind the WHEEL and I've totally regretted choosing MANUAL over AUTO.
Clutch, Brakes, Gear Shifting, Mirrors, Blind spots..
ARGH!!
I totally hate it having to remember so many procedures before making a turn, stopping on target and yada yada..
GOD PLS GIMME MORE LIMBS!!

On my way to prawning, saw a lying on the road, most likely being knocked down by the big truck.
We were travelling a lil too fast to stop to help so we proceeded.
Pray hard that the man survived.

Went to Pasir Ris for prawning and saw Stella and frens there but before I noticed them, I heard Ben SHOUTING my name at the top of his voice.
Embarrassing..
They caught like 9 prawns with 2 rods over 4 hrs whereas we caught 12 with one rod over 3 hours.. YEAH!! (just as we start prawning, most of the 'prawners' left leaving us with lesser competition)
As usual, Bear did the cooking of the prawn with butter, garlic and cheese in the oven.
Me?
Preparing what he needed and clearing up all the mess that he created.
I must say that he's a great cook!!
Nice buttery(oily) prawns for supper and all that were persent simply love it.

Prissy went to OBS today.
This means that I wouldnt see her for 5 days and I'll have my bed free from her on it. =)
Ody will have her bed with Chip & Dale attacked for 5 days.

Ody's OT

After 10 weeks of training, Ody failed his OT.
I must say that I've seen loads of improvement after OT and my objectives are met.
As for him failing, I'm rather disappointed as he did pretty well in all except Stand for Examination.
First of all, he refused to stand becos Patrick was near him.
When Patrick walked towards him, he ran off and came to my side.
Patrick then asked me to put him in Sit Position and he walked towards Ody again.
Ody was just too petrified that he ran to my side again. sigh.
It was an immediate failure thou Ody performed pretty well for his Sit-Stay and Down-Stay.
Anyway, I'm always welcome to go back for a re-test. sweat.
I'm sure I'll bring him back for a re-test and make sure he pass well this time. (with Patrick not touching him for "Stand for Examination")

After training, brought him to Pet Movers tgt with Pebble and Cobi.
They really enjoyed themselves by getting all dirty and being able to ran about with no restrictions.
Then we headed to Urban Pooch to celebrate the completion of OT.
As usual, I'll make Ody Sit-Stay before he's allowed to take his meal.
He's so protective over his food that when Pebble went over to check his food out, he almost fought with Pebble over that.
Bad lil boy he is.
Spanked him and he obediently sat and one place and wait for my 'OK' command before he can take his meal.

Went home in disappointment still but I'm still very very proud of my lil boy. =)
Showered him, blow him dry, brush him and yada yada.
Of course, with loads of pretty helpers and Ody was so loved by them.

Was working from home yesterday and did something really mean to Ody.
I placed segments of chewing sticks on his paws and made him 'leave it'.
Didnt manage to get a shot whereby he's licking his 'lips'.
God damn farny ok..
I think he's gonna hate me..
